Comprehensive security options
As one of the most reputable online security companies around, McAfee products offer all-round protection. McAfee Antivirus is one such product.
As internet attackers find ever more new and clever ways to infiltrate computer systems, antivirus programs have to step up their game. McAfee is one of the biggest cybersecurity companies, and for good reason.
McAfee Antivirus is available as a free trial, which lasts a month and includes all the Total Protection features. After which you’ll need to pay to keep using the software if you want access to the full range of security options.

As for those features, they include: multi-device, cross-platform access, parental controls, viruses, malware, and ransomware protection, a built-in password manager, file encryption, and even more. The software also updates automatically, so you can rest assured the antivirus database is current.
Once installed and opened, the McAfee dashboard (Security Center) is both in-depth and a little overwhelming. As well as listing which protection is active at what time, it also provides links to antivirus scans, firewall settings, and a spamkiller.
Many of these options are also available with alternative antivirus programs, such as Norton and Kaspersky. The main differences are the subscription prices and brand loyalty. If you’ve never had any issues with running McAfee products, there’s no reason to switch to a different company unless you want to try and grab a better software deal.
Where can you run this program?
McAfee Antivirus is compatible with Windows, Mac OS, iOS and Android devices, and most operating systems.
Is there a better alternative?
No. As noted above, it’s possible to find similar antivirus and internet security software from other companies. However, McAfee’s is hard to beat in terms of features and support.

Remembering all your passwords is difficult enough, but synchronising the data across your devices is even more complicated. If you store a unique password for each website, as you're wisely told to do, then you need to be able to login using both your desktop and smartphone. Problem is, login with an iOS device and it might default to Safari, whilst you prefer Chrome on your Mac.
We use 1Password to keep our password synchronised, but there a number of other options including LastPass, Buttercup and Bitwarden, amongst many others.
McAfee has released its own password management system and it's rather impressive, in places.
McAfee TrueKey is a download for either your Mac or PC (Mac version supplied here) and it installs as an extension for your web browser: Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Internet Explorer. But not Safari. And that causes us all kinds of issues as a Mac/iOS user as it means that if we need to use Safari, True Key is not supported, so you can't access your passwords. At least with 1Password it's a standalone Mac application, separate from your web browser. True Key simply tries to open your web browser. This is a huge flaw for any Mac user wanting to switch to True Key.
True Key is like any centralised password manager. Once installed, every time you access a website, it automatically stores the password (you can choose for it not to store a website password on a site by site basis). Next time you go back to the website, True Key logs you in automatically when you access from a trusted device. True Key will also analyse your face from your webcam and store this for login, but on a Mac this didn't work properly for us either. We couldn't log back into True Key with our stored face and had to keep readjusting our webcam position to analyse. It still failed.
On an iOS device, as long as the option is supported (think iPhone X/XS/XR which lack fingerprint support), you can also login with your finger.
True Key will also offer to generate secure passes you can use, it will store your notes securely and even offer to store your credit cards, password, ID cards and other personal information.
Another issue we found is that True Key disables your web browser password system and takes over. But this introduces a strange flaw - we forgot our obscure 'master password' and as True Key wouldn't recognise our stored face, we couldn't log back in as we'd forgotten the stored (in True Key, ironically) 'master password'.
Mcafee For Mac Free
The free True Key will only store 15 passwords, which is very limiting. If you want to store more than 15 passwords (we think that applies to everyone), then you need to buy True Key Premium, which is $19.99/year and will store up to 10,000 logins/passwords.

Verdict:
Mcafee Free Download For Mac
We wanted to love True Key. It's by a reputable security developer, looks amazing, well-designed and works across devices. But the lack of Safari support, its inability to recognise our face and its 15-password limitation makes it hard to recommend over other tried-and-tested password managers.
